بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
104 : 1

وَيۡلٞ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٖ لُّمَزَةٍ

Woe to every backbiter and slanderer,

104 : 2

ٱلَّذِي جَمَعَ مَالٗا وَعَدَّدَهُۥ

who amasses wealth and counts it over and again,

  1. Instead of spending in the way of Allah.
104 : 3

يَحۡسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُۥٓ أَخۡلَدَهُۥ

thinking that his wealth will make him live forever.

104 : 4

كَلَّاۖ لَيُنۢبَذَنَّ فِي ٱلۡحُطَمَةِ

No indeed! He will surely be cast into the Crushing Fire,

  1. i.e., Hellfire, as it crushes and destroys all that is thrown in it.
104 : 5

وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡحُطَمَةُ

and how do you know what the Crushing Fire is?
