"No fatigue, disease, sorrow, sadness, harm, or distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were a prick of a thorn, but Allah will expiate some of his sins thereby."
Authentic Agreed upon
A man came to the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, what are the two imperatives?" He said: "Whoever dies while not associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise, and whoever dies while associating anything with Allah will enter Hellfire."
Authentic Narrated by Muslim
"Whoever meets Allah without associating anything with Him, no sin will harm him along with it; and whoever dies while associating partners with Him, no good deed will benefit him along with it."
Authentic Narrated by Ahmad
As the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was riding a mount with Mu‘ādh behind him, he said: "O Mu‘ādh ibn Jabal!" He replied: "Here I am at your service, O Messenger of Allah." He again said: "O Mu‘ādh!" Mu‘ādh replied: "Here I am at your service, O Messenger of Allah." This was said three times. Then, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no one who bears witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger, sincerely from his heart, except that Allah will make him forbidden to Hellfire." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, should I not inform the people of that so that they may rejoice?" He replied: "Then they would rely on this alone." Mu‘ādh narrated this Hadīth at the time of his death to avoid the sin of concealing knowledge.
Authentic Agreed upon
"Actions are of six types and people are of four: two imperatives, one and its equal reward, one good deed with ten times as much reward, and one good deed with a seven-hundred-fold reward. As for the two imperatives, whoever dies while not associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise, and whoever dies while associating anything with Allah will enter Hellfire. As for one and its equal, if a person intends to do a good deed until it is felt in his heart and known to Allah, it will be recorded for him as a good deed; and if a person does a bad deed, it is recorded against him as a bad deed; whoever performs a good deed will have ten times as much in reward; and whoever spends in the way of Allah will have a good deed multiplied seven hundred times. As for people, some are in opulence in worldly life while in straits in the Hereafter; some are in straits in worldly life while in opulence in the Hereafter; some are in straits in worldly life and the Hereafter; and some are in opulence in worldly life and the Hereafter."
Hasan Narrated by Ahmad
I was riding behind the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) on a donkey called ‘Ufayr. The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "O Mu‘ādh, do you know what Allah's right upon His servants is, and what the right of His servants upon Him is?" I replied: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "Allah's right upon His servants is that they should worship Him and associate no partners with Him. And the right of the servants upon Allah is that He should not punish whoever associates no partners with Him." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, should I not inform the people of this good news?" He said: "Do not inform them of it, lest they depend on it solely."
Authentic Agreed upon
"Indeed, Allah will distinguish a man from my Ummah before all of creation on the Day of Judgment. Ninety-nine scrolls will be laid out for him; each scroll will be as far as the eye can see. Then, He will say: 'Do you deny any of this? Have those who recorded this wronged you?' He will say: 'No, O Lord!' He will say: 'Do you have an excuse?' He will say: 'No, O Lord!' So, He will say: 'Rather you have a good deed with us; so, you will not be wronged today.' Then, He will bring out a card, in which it is written: 'I testify that there is no god but Allah and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.' He will say: 'Bring your scale.' He will say: 'O Lord, what good is this card next to these scrolls?' He will say: 'You will not be wronged.' The scrolls will be put on a pan (of the scale), and the card on (the other) pan. The scrolls will be light, and the card will be heavy, for nothing is heavier than the name of Allah."
Authentic Narrated by At-Tirmidhi and Ibn Mājah
A man came to the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I left no minor or major sin without committing it." He said: "Do you not testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?" He repeated the question three times. He replied: 'Yes.' The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This prevails over that."
Authentic Narrated by Abu Ya‘la, At-Tabarāni, and Ad-Diyā’ al-Maqdisi
