I saw ‘Ammār ibn Yāsir enter the mosque and perform the prayer, and he performed it briefly. When he came out, I went to him and said: O Abu al-Yaqzhān, you performed the prayer briefly. He replied: Did you see me leave out any of its required parts or limits? I said: No. He said: Verily, I hastened in it to ward off the distraction of the devil. I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: "Indeed, a servant may pray a prayer, but nothing of it is recorded for him except a tenth of it, or a ninth, or an eighth, or a seventh, or a sixth, or a fifth, or a quarter, or a third, or a half."
Hasan Narrated by Ahmad
"How astonishing the believer's affair is! Indeed, all of his affairs are good, and this is for none but the believer. If something good happens to him, he is grateful, which is good for him; and if something bad happens to him, he shows patience, which is good for him."
Authentic Narrated by Muslim
I said: O Messenger of Allah, what is salvation? He said: "Control your tongue, abide in your house, and weep over your sin."
Authentic Narrated by At-Tirmidhi and Ahmad
"There is no man who commits a sin, then gets up and performs Tahārah (ritual purification), then performs prayer, then seeks forgiveness from Allah, except that Allah forgives him." Then, he recited this verse: {And those who, when they commit a shameful act or wrong themselves, remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins.} [Surat Āl ‘Imrān: 135]
Authentic Narrated by Abu Dāwūd, At-Tirmidhi, and An-Nasā’i in Al-Kubra and by Ibn Mājah and Ahmad
Fātimah (may Allah be pleased with her) went to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) to complain about the effect of the grinding-stone on her hand, as she heard that he had acquired some slaves. She did not find him. So, she mentioned the matter to ‘Ā’ishah. When he came, ‘Ā’ishah informed him. He related: So, he visited us when we had gone to bed, and as we were about to get up, he said: "Stay where you are." He came and sat down between her and me, and I felt the coldness of his feet on my belly. He said: "Let me guide you to something better than what you asked for. When you go to bed, say ‘Subhān Allah' (glory be to Allah) thirty-three times, ‘Alhamdulillāh' (praise be to Allah) thirty-three times, and ‘Allāhu Akbar' (Allah is the Most Great) thirty-four times. This is better for you than a servant."
Authentic Agreed upon
The Prophet of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to say during times of distress: "There is no god but Allah, the Most Great, the Forbearing. There is no god but Allah, the Lord of the Mighty Throne. There is no god but Allah, the Lord of the heavens, the Lord of the earth, and the Lord of the Noble Throne."
Authentic Agreed upon
I asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) for some money, and he gave it to me. Then I asked him again, and he gave it to me. Then I asked him again, and he gave it to me, and then he said: "O Hakīm, this money is like a sweet, fresh fruit; whoever takes it without greediness, he is blessed with it, and whoever takes it with greediness, he is not blessed with it, and he is like a person who eats but is never satiated; and the upper hand is better than the lower hand." Hakīm added: I said: O Messenger of Allah, by the One Who sent you with the truth, I shall never accept anything from anyone after you until I depart this world. Then Abu Bakr would call Hakīm in order to give him, and he would refuse to take anything. Then ‘Umar called him to give it to him, but he would refuse to accept it. Upon that, ‘Umar said: O Muslims, I offer Hakīm his share from this booty that Allah entitled him to, and he refuses to take it. So, Hakīm never took anything from anybody after the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) till he died (may Allah have mercy upon him).
Authentic Agreed upon
"Do not curse the wind. If you see what you dislike, then say: Allāhumma inna nas’aluka min khayri hādhihi ar-rīh wa khayri ma fīha wa khayri ma ’umirat bih, wa na’ūdhu bika min sharri hādhihi ar-rīh wa sharri ma fīha wa sharri ma ’umirat bih (O Allah, we ask you for the good of this wind, the good that is in it, and the good that it has been commanded to bring; and we seek refuge with You from the evil of this wind, the evil that is in it, and the evil it has been commanded to bring)."
Authentic Narrated by At-Tirmidhi
