"When Allah created Paradise and Hellfire, He sent Jibrīl (Gabriel) (peace be upon him) to Paradise, saying: 'Look at it and at what I have prepared in it for its inhabitants.' So, he looked at it, returned, and said: 'By Your Honor, no one will hear of it except that he will enter it.' Then, He gave the order for it to be surrounded with hardships. He said: 'Return to it and look at it, and at what I have prepared in it for its inhabitants.' So, he returned to it and found it surrounded with hardships. He said: 'By Your Honor, I fear that no one will enter it.' He said: 'Go to Hellfire and look at it and at what I have prepared in it for its inhabitants.' So, he looked at it and found that its parts are piling up one over another. Then, he returned and said: 'By Your Honor, none will enter it.' He gave the order for it to be surrounded with desires. Then, He said: 'Return and look at it.' He looked at it and found it surrounded with desires. He returned and said: 'By Your Honor, I fear that no one will be saved from it except that he will enter it.'"
Hasan Narrated by Abu Dāwūd, At-Tirmidhi, and An-Nasā’i
"The nearest the Lord to a servant is in the course of the last part of the night. So, if you are able to be among those who remember Allah at that hour, do so."
Authentic Narrated by Abu Dāwūd, At-Tirmidhi, and An-Nasā’i
We went out on a rainy and extremely dark night looking for the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) to lead us in prayer. He said: I caught up with him, and he said: "Say," but I did not say anything. Then, he said: "Say," and again, I said nothing. He said: "Say." I replied: What should I say? He said: "{Say: "He is Allah, the One"} and Al-Mu'awwidhatān (Surat al-Falaq and Surat an-Nās) thrice in the evening and the morning, they will grant you protection from everything."
Authentic Narrated by Abu Dāwūd, At-Tirmidhi, and An-Nasā’i
"The best dhikr is lā ilāha illa Allah (there is no god but Allah), and the best supplication is Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah)."
Hasan Narrated by At-Tirmidhi and An-Nasā’i in Al-Kubra and by Ibn Mājah
"Whoever says three times: 'In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing in the earth or the heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing' will not suffer sudden affliction until the morning; and whoever says it in the morning three times will not suffer sudden affliction until the evening." He said: Abān ibn ‘Uthmān was struck with paralysis, and the man who heard the Hadīth from him started looking at him, so, he said to him: Why are you looking at me? By Allah, I did not tell a lie about 'Uthmān, nor did ‘Uthmān tell a lie about the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), but the day I was afflicted with this, I got angry and forgot to say it.
Authentic Narrated by Abu Dāwūd, At-Tirmidhi, and An-Nasā’i in Al-Kubra and by Ibn Mājah and Ahmad
"There is no man who commits a sin, then gets up and performs Tahārah (ritual purification), then performs prayer, then seeks forgiveness from Allah, except that Allah forgives him." Then, he recited this verse: {And those who, when they commit a shameful act or wrong themselves, remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins.} [Surat Āl ‘Imrān: 135]
Authentic Narrated by Abu Dāwūd, At-Tirmidhi, and An-Nasā’i in Al-Kubra and by Ibn Mājah and Ahmad
The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) never abandoned these supplications in the evening and the morning: "O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly life, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my imperfection—or my imperfections—and secure my fears. O Allah, protect me from before me, from behind me, from my right, from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge with Your greatness from being suddenly killed from beneath me."
Authentic Narrated by Abu Dāwūd, An-Nasā’i, Ibn Mājah, and Ahmad
"The son of Adam does not fill any vessel worse than his stomach. It is enough for the son of Adam to eat a few mouthfuls to straighten his back, but if he must (fill his stomach), then one-third for his food, one-third for his drink, and one-third for his breath."
Authentic Narrated by Imam Ahmad, At-Tirmidhi, An-Nasā’i, and Ibn Mājah
